The Col. Ramon Camus Integrated School is a proud institution of learning in Malabon City, offering both elementary and secondary education in alignment with the Department of Education’s commitment to provide quality, accessible, inclusive, and liberating basic education.
The school traces its beginnings to the Spanish period when it was known as Ibaba Barrio School, later renamed Ibaba Primary School. The elementary site was established on a donated property, and the school was named in honor of Col. Ramon Camus, the late Appointment Secretary of President Ramon Magsaysay, in recognition of his patriotism and exemplary public service.
The secondary building was later acquired by the City Government of Malabon in 1939, marking an important step toward expanding educational opportunities in the community. The school began its independent operation in November 1989 when part of the De La Paz Elementary School population-fondly known as the “Anak ng Camus”-was transferred. In 1990, it was officially recognized as Col. Ramon Camus Elementary School.
With the city’s growing population and in response to the Department of Education’s directive to ensure equitable access to secondary education, the school formally opened its Junior High School Program in 2010. What once served as an annex of Malabon National High School evolved into a complete learning institution.
On February 14, 2014, the City Government of Malabon officially recognized the school as COL. RAMON CAMUS INTEGRATED SCHOOL, providing continuous and holistic education from Kindergarten to secondary levels.
Guided by the DepEd Quality Policy, RCIS upholds the highest standards of leadership, governance, and instructional delivery. It promotes proactive leadership, shared governance, evidence-based programs, and a responsive curriculum suited to the needs of 21st-century learners. The school is committed to maintaining a community of highly competent and dedicated teaching and non-teaching personnel, fostering an enabling learning environment that nurtures every child’s potential.
Today, Col. Ramon Camus Integrated School continues to embody the DepEd vision of producing lifelong learners who are empowered, compassionate, and service-oriented, anchored on a tradition of excellence, integrity, and public trust.
